FRENCH I
(Full Year)
Elective Grade 9-11
Prerequisite: None
This course is designed for students who have had little or no French background. It begins with the development of speaking, reading, writing, and listening comprehension in the French or Francophone countries by use and emphasis on real life situations. In learning a new language, one's own language is improved and continues to become refined. This course also aims to heighten students' awareness of different cultures, especially the French culture.
FRENCH II
(Full Year)
Elective Grade 9-12
Prerequisite: French I or the equivalent with instructor approval
This course develops the basics learned in French I and continues the development of the language for improved understanding of French. Reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills of students are enhanced in French. Students receive enrichment in the understanding of the different cultures, mainly the French.
FRENCH III
(Full Year)
Elective Grade 10-12
Prerequisite: A grade of "C" or better in French II or the equivalent with instructor approval.
This advanced course is designed to further the development of French skills. Students enhance their reading and writing in French while emphasizing the improvement of their speaking and listening skills. Throughout this course, students develop a working knowledge of French to achieve a better proficiency in the language and enhance their awareness of the diversity of cultures in the world. Cultural activities play a larger role than in the previous courses.
FRENCH IV
(Full Year)
Elective Grade 12
Prerequisite: Completion of French III or the equivalent with instructor approval.
This advanced course is designed to further enhance and hone students' skills in the language. This course helps further enhance reading and writing with further emphasis on listening and speaking, so students have a workable and usable practical application of French.
SPANISH I
(Full Year)

In learning a new language, one's own language is improved and continues to become refined. This course also aims to heighten students' awareness of different cultures, most especially the Spanish culture.
SPANISH II

SPANISH V
(Full Year)
Elective Grade 12
Prerequisite: Teacher Recommendation.
(This course is only offered upon request of students and/or parents once the students have completed the requirements of Spanish IV in the junior year and wish to pursue further studies in the language.)
The purpose of this course is to provide an individualized improvement of Spanish. The course strengthens the skills of students in all areas. This course continues to advance students to a level of competency in Spanish. Student experiences may include teaching lower level skills to others, speaking to native speakers, conversation in Spanish, developing activities for others and one's self and creating situations for performance in Spanish.
