ACCREDITATION OF RONCALLI CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL  **  (Back to Top)

Roncalli Catholic High School, established in 1974, is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.  Roncalli Catholic High School is also accredited by the State of Nebraska Department of Education and is on the list of Class A accredited schools as established by the members of the State Accreditation Committee.  In addition, Roncalli Catholic High School is a member in good standing of the Secondary School Department of the National Catholic Education Association.

GENERAL INFORMATION  **  (Back to Top)

The courses listed in this booklet are TENTATIVE offerings for the school year.  These courses are offered ONLY if enough students enroll to merit scheduling the class.

Students and parents are to read carefully the course descriptions and graduation requirements, note for which grade level each course is offered, and then complete the preliminary course request form.

The teachers, counselors, and administrators of Roncalli Catholic High School are ready to assist all students in selecting a schedule.  If there are questions, please begin with the teachers or counselor.  Students are advised to use the recommendations and experience of the school staff when selecting classes.  School administrators are responsible for final course registration.

Each one-semester course receives two academic credits applied toward the total graduation requirement of ninety-six credits.  Credits are the value placed on courses.  Students must register for classes required at their specific grade level plus additional electives to carry a minimum of seven courses per semester. An eighth scheduled class is encouraged, however students are allowed a study hall.

Withdrawing From Courses: In order to provide sufficient supplies and to determine teacher assignments, the school must know each student's selections for the next year.  Because changing courses in the fall is very inefficient, careful consideration of the selection of subjects should be given by both parents and students at this time.  Course changes initiated by students or parents after spring course registration must follow procedures established by administration.

WEIGHTED COURSES POLICY  **  (Back to Top)

Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses are weighted using the following system: All honors course grades add an index of .2 quality points and all AP course grades add an index of .5 quality points in calculating students' grade point averages in figuring class rank.  All grades, regardless of the number of courses taken, are included in the average.  Full application of the index to a student’s GPA is determined by student achievement in the course.

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA SYSTEM ADMISSION STANDARDS  **  (Back to Top)

PRE-REGISTRATION  **  (Back to Top)

During the second semester, information concerning career decisions, scheduling and post secondary education is distributed in order to pre-register for classes for the next school year.  This pre-registration process allows students to select the courses they plan to take and also enables the school to begin planning a schedule and to determine staff needs for the coming year.  It is important that students only schedule courses they plan to take for the next year.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSE REGISTRATION  **  (Back to Top)

For 2005-2006 school year, students who register for Advanced Placement Courses will be required to take the Advanced Placement Exam in the Spring of the school year as distributed by the College Board organization (Science department is exempt).  Test fees will be applied to tuition or through a payment schedule established with parents.  Reduced fees for the Advanced Placement test are also available through application to the College Board organization.  These tests fee apply to the following Roncalli Catholic courses:  AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP World Literature & AP Government.
